Beyond Your Weight Program Testimony -
I had a desire to lose weight for over a year, but that was as far as it got just a desire. I never seemed to be able to get started. I didn't want to go on a diet, but wanted to make a lifestyle change that would last. Then Cathy began teaching an eight week course called Laying Aside Every Weight at my home church. God used this course to jumpstart my journey on renewing my mind to the purpose of food, changing my eating habits and lifestyle, and, as a result, losing physical weight. There were two scriptures that Cathy gave us to read and meditate upon that were life changing. These were Isaiah 26:13-14 and 2 Corinthians 9:25-27. By reading and meditating on these several times a day, it completely revolutionized my thinking regarding the purpose of food, my eating habits and lifestyle and my desire for food. Food no longer had the mastery over me, but I had the mastery over food. As a result of meditating upon these scriptures, along with others, it created a desire in me to discipline my body, the temple of the Holy Spirit, because I wanted to glorify God in my body.
As a result of incorporating the Word of God into making this lifestyle change, it enabled me to have the strength to incorporate natural changes. These included partial fasting (abstaining from food and instead spending time praying, reading the Word) once a week, eating half portions, exercising, drinking eight 8oz glasses of water daily and not eating after 7pm. As a result, not only did I lose approximately 30 pounds in 5 months, but it has caused my eating lifestyle to completely change forever. I have no desire to go back to my old eating habits or old way of thinking regarding the purpose of food.
Not only have there been natural changes, but there have been eternal changes that I am very thankful for. Thank you, Cathy, for being obedient to teaching the uncompromised Word of God that is changing not only my life, but the lives of others also.
